Default left out in the rain!!!

Please Login to Remove!

I left my pearl out in the rain...I know, I know......I just forgot to put it in my pocket...

anyway, it was on and spent 12 hrs overnight in a rainstorm

I discovered it the next day, stripped it down and dried it out pretty thouroughly......it all works except when I take a photo, the viewfinder screen is fine but the photograph is just pink/green noise. I thought the camera was knackered by the rain but then, why would the live picture be fine???

any suggestions (other than don't be so Bl**dy careless )

Likely because the BB has not completely dried out, and if it was completely soaked, you may still have a problem. I had a similar issue (the BB jumped in the Gulf of Mexico to go swimming with me--it is co-dependent), and after a day of drying and such, I popped in the battery and it worked fine--for about 4 hours, then when I charged it that night, the charging, I believe, fried it. NoMoBB.

So, my suggestion--give it more time to completely dry with the power off and battery pulled.

There's a big difference between a phone getting wet with fresh versus salt water.

The salt is a conductor and highly corrosive. I would expect most phones wet by ocean water to be trash after they are dried out.

I would almost classify this as a submersion since it was in the rain for so long. Take out the battery, SIM card, SD card and let it dry for 5 days. Only time will tell if it is "dead in the water" for use of a better cliché.

I had the same issue with my 1st BB Pearl. The preview was like in 4 colors or something similar but the real picture was fine. I had it replaced, but that may not be an option for you.
