Default T-Mobile Blackberry Data Plans and IM

I'm going to take the plunge pretty soon and get a Pearl, most likely with T-Mobile.

I'm a little confused on the data add-on plans. TMO has 'Blackberry Unlimited Add On' for $19.99/month, which has web client email and unlimited browsing, but "does not include text/instant messaging". I don't need SMS, but would like IM. If I were to use a web-based IM client, like Ramble or JiveTalk, I should be able to IM, right?

Yes, some instant message programs are data-based rather than SMS-based. JiveTalk is a good example of a data-based chat program.

You will need the Blackberry Unlimited Add On' for $19.99/month as you stated, and that will cover all data, PIN messages, internet browser, etc. If you never send an SMS message, you won't have an additional charge.

Thanks! That's what I thought. TMO is a little misleading. Seems like it would be sufficient for them to say no SMS and leave the instant messaging part out. But, since the IM client they provide (I presume) is SMS based, they state no IM.

aren't there 2 different data BB plans? one for BES and one for BIS?

Like if I have the myfaves 300 with 8100.
Could I only get the $20 addon with it?

or just change my plan all together?>

_____

EDIT-
Nevermind. I looked it up and figured it out. Thanks guys..
