Default Displaying a contact name when receiving a SMS message

Please Login to Remove!

Just purchased a Blackbery Pearl in the UK on a VF contract.

Apologies if this question is located somewhere else ( I did a search and could not find any related material )
Is there a way that the name will be displayed when receiving a text message. I have tried putting 0044 in front of my contact numbers but this didnt work. I know in emails you can switch from name and email address

Thanks

Hello and welcome to BB Forums. This is a fairly common question - and easy to resolve.

Go into the phone applications. Click the menu key and select Options, then Smart Dialing. Change the country code to +44 and that should do it.

Good luck.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I doesn't need an OS update just follow NJ's instructions but I think the route is; Phone, Options, Smart Dialing.
Go to the phone Dialer first, then Options, etc.

Not everyone needs to update their OS. Not everyone knows HOW to update their OS. Sometimes simple is better.

Thanks for everyones replies. I changed the area code to +44 and now the contacts name appears instead of their number when a text message is received

Don't lecture me. The poster asked a simple question; you did not give the answer. We are here to answer people's questions.

Which you failed to do.

Q: How do I get the names to show up in SMS text
A: Upgrade the OS

Wrong. Think before answering. Or do not answer.
