Default silver latch button for back cover

Please Login to Remove!

So I have an unlocked T-mobile pearl I got from my buddy, that I am using on ATT network. The silver latch and spring that holds the back cover somehow popped off and i lost it. I know the latch and back cover is a known problem, I can't go to t-mobile for warranty replacement, because I don't use their networkl . I googled for spare parts for the latch and I can't find anything. So other thought was to buy a dummy phone (display) model and swap the parts. Does anyone know if the dummy phone's back latches work or is it glued shut?

Thanks

People have posted some places that are selling Pearl parts, but I don't recall
seeing any that sell parts as detailed as the battery latch.

Considering the expense of replacing that part I would not bother with trying
to replace it.

It would be better to simply tape the the bottom so it will hold the cover into
place, if that is even necessary. The better fix would be to get some type
of form fitting leather case that covers the phone and will end up also holding
the battery cover in place.

That is all you need since the cover does not hold the battery in place, it's
simply a cover.

There are many nice looking leather case enclosures for the Pearl or you can
opt to get a rubber skin that would also hold the cover in place.

If you want a new OEM battery cover go here BBrepairshop.com - BlackBerry Repair Parts for BlackBerry 8100 Pearl

Otherwise, I think that Seido makes a replacement battery cover with a speak slot in it and it's cheaper

Mine broke as well a few weeks ago.

The other day, my colleague dropped hers in the ocean. Needless to say, it no longer works. The company bought her a new one, and I took the silver button from her old one.

Maybe you could go to Cingular, Tmobile, wherever - and ask if they have a defective/returned/warranty unit? Might have to make nice with the sales guy first, but it can't hurt to ask.

Use scotch tape. That's what I did.

I have one of those clear form fitting plastic cases that cost $0.01 on Amazon / eBay. Works great even though my plastic is 100% perfect. It'll keep it that way.

I also downloaded the soft reset app so I should not have to pull my battery cover off to reset it.
