Question at&t Branding on Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

Will the Pearl (original in black) ever be produced with at&t branding like the red Pearl is? As sad as it may seem, I want the at&t branding on my device if that is going to be the name of my carrier (nothing against the Cingular branding), but yet slightly like the black Pearl over the red one.

Have you tried loading the Red Pearl OS onto your phone from the Cingular site? That might do it.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I believe I read somewhere on the forum that it can't be done. It isn't an OS problem, it is hardware related.

I think the OP means on the case itself. And I'm sure it will happen eventually.

Hi LaTuFu. As has been posted many, many times, you can not change the software branding.

I also believe the OP is referring to the case.

I had a at&t branded black Pearl. Picked it up in midtown last week. But the damned thing crashed and burned when I was writing an e-mail. Gray screen of death? Returned it Tuesday and it was replaced with a brand new in box Cingular model. I guess the at&t branded one is making the rounds here and there.

Depending on the store, they might have it.

Just got an AT&T branded Pearl yesterday. The store said I was lucky and they just got a new shipment in an hour ago. So all the new shipments probably have it.

Anyone that has stated you can't change the alpha tag (the name of the network on the front of your home display on your black Cingular/at&t Pearl is dead wrong. My girlfriend worked for Cingular until a month or so ago, and she showed me how, with my black Pearl, to change the alpha tag from "Cingular" to "AT&T" pretty easily. Bear in mind, too, this is just for Cingular. You will have to have an online account where you can manage your account.

1) Call 611, and go to "reporting a lost or stolen phone"--option 4 when I called...but then I have a business phone.
2) Actually go through and report your phone lost or stolen. That will deactivate the phone for the time being.
3) Go into your Cingular.com account, and you will find a link for "reporting lost or stolen" phones. Click on that, and there should be a reactivate button. Click that to reactivate your phone.
4) Take the battery out, wait 30 sec., put it back in and wait a few. It took about two minutes after the phone booted up, but it changed the alpha tag to AT&T.

A complete waste of time--but fun.

I was referring to the case and anything else Cingular related on the phone. I will let the alpha-tag change on it's own when they update towers in Louisville, that is fine. But I was also referring to the other marking embedded on the home screen where it says Cingular or at&t also. Are both of those alpha-tags and will change depending on the tower's output? I figured the top one was embedded in the phone.

It's partially based on tower...but needs to be updated and refreshed to take on hte new alpha tag.

Cingular store in Mall St. Mathews on Shelbyville Road in Louisville have at&t branded BlackBerry Pearls (black) if anyone is seeking one and close. I just discovered that tonight.
