Hi Everybody!

This is my first post, and I am also a new Blackberry user. When I set up my e-mail, I followed the instructions for setting up access to my company's Blackberry Enterprise Server. And, it works just fine. But I would like to be able to also access my personal e-mail, for which I use a GoDaddy.com e-mail box. The Pearl documentation suggests I can have multiple personal e-mail accounts. But it makes it sound like its either a Blackberry Enterprise Server account or multiple personal accounts. Or, said another way, if I use my corporate e-mail, I cannot also get to my personal e-mail. When I tried to add my personal account it seemed as though the e-mail setup wizard didn't understand I wanted to add another account, and I was afraid I may screw up the corporate access by setting up the personal address.

So, is this doable? If so, can somebody point me in the right direction, please?

You need a Blackberry Internet Service account (BIS). You can run BES and BIS on the same phone without any problems - I do it all the time.

However your IT group can limit BIS service if they want (I believe).

So how do I get the BIS account? Is that something I set up with my provider (ATT)? I seem to remember being asked whether I wanted BES or BIS when I signed up for the service. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Its not a dumb question. It sounds like you have BES, since thats what you need to access your company's email system.

In order to access your personal email, you will also need to have BIS. This is a separate service.

Like the previous poster mentioned, you need to check with your company IT policy first. Many corporate IT policies forbid personal email services on the devices.

Do you own the BB or does your company provide it? If you own it, you have the option to elect whether or not you want to access your company email. If the company owns it, their IT security policy will determine whether or not you can have access to your personal email.

I own my BB and pay for all the services personally. If I elect to use my company's BES, I have to abide by their security policy (which does not allow use of BIS, SMS, or any other service I am paying for) if I want corporate access. I have elected to keep the BIS only and maintain my personal access. I'm not away from my office long enough to care about having the corporate email on my BB.

Depending on your service level/options you may be able to turn on BIS, get a cingular/ATT email address for the unit, and after that, attach other personal email accounts to the phone. I use GMail with it no problem.

I contacted AT&T and they walked me through linking to RIM, and setting up a new account for my personal e-mail on the phone. They were great, and it was easy - though it wasn't intuitive.

Anyway, I now have two icons on my home page: the original for my work related BES e-mail, and one with my personal e-mail address as the name. But, I have a new issue. The personal e-mail is downloading to both inboxes. So, when I click on the original icon, I see both my work e-mail and my personal e-mail. The personal e-mail also shows up in the personal inbox. The work e-mail does not, however, download to the personal inbox. Any ideas how I can keep them seperate?
