Default No Internet - No Data Package.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All, this site looks pretty cool.

I just bought a new 8100G, thinking I could use my PAYG T-Mobile sim card in it and utilise the unlimited web access service for 1 a day, as I have been on my nokia for months now.

But I can't and looking around there is no way around this unless I sign up to a contract. I am gutted as the BB 8100 is a really smart phone, but without the Data package has less use than my old Nokia.

I also tried setting up th APN as mentioned some where else but that hasnt worked either, i still cant surf the net or pick up emails as the applications just arent there.

I will keep looking in the hope I dont have to sell it on.

Like LH said, no BB data plan, no email, MMS, or email. "No shoes, no shirt, no service."

you dont need blackberry data...only to recieve the service books... once you have the service books, you can drop the data and add a basic media package that goes with any phone, however this will not give you the Email feature, but will give you access to the web and text

You need a data plan to get access to the internet. That would be why my bill shows 'kbytes' used....that'd be data.

you need "An" data package... not the "BlackBerry Data"

all you need from the blackberry data is to recieve the servicebooks, then you can access the net using a regular data plan

readmy post again... pay more attention this time

You must be right. I, who supports hundreds of Blackberry devices and 4 BES servers, knows nothing.

Did you read the link that LunkHead posted?

yeah.... LH said no blackberry data - no Email or web...

this is half a false statement. you can access the web

ifyou dont believe me, monday, call ur provider and add a regular data package and drop ur blackberry data. then try to access the web and tellme what happens

And many carriers will charge you extra for the data when they see you trying to use the BlackBerry APNs....

The original poster has an 8700g, which is on T-Mo. Can you guarantee that he won't get charged extra data?

And for that, you can stay off the forums for 3 days. Don't be a jerk.
