Default Callers name not showing abroad

Please Login to Remove!

I work in Copenhagen but live in Sweden (a short commute), and consequently spend plenty of time in both countries. My Pearl has a Danish SIM and everything works well as long as I'm in Denmark.

When I go to Sweden however the callers name is not displayed, only their number. This is obviously a pain as I have tons of numbers. It only happends when they caller is using a Swedish phone number; a call from abroad with the +xx in front works fine. Is the Pearl really so stupid that it doesn't understand that a call from number 07765(...) is really a call from +467765(...) and should be matched to name xzy? I.e. like every other Nokia, SE or Motorola I've had in the last 10 years have done? Or am just missing something plainly obvious? All my numbers are in international format btw.

Thanks for the help!

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

The Pearl really isn't that stupid, lol. Go to Phone, Options, Smart Dialing and set your Country Code there (+xx) for the number the SIM is matched to. You will need to enter in the Addressbook the correct country code for contacts from OUTSIDE your home country, i.e., if the SIM is Danish with a Danish # and that is entered correctly in the Smart Dialing, your Swedish contacts (or any other country) will need their country code entered in their contact info.

Good luck.

This is already the case. The country code is correctly set up under Smart Dialing (+45), and all my contacts have their numbers in international format, e.g. +46 in front of the Swedish contacts. Any calls are still displayed as numbers not name when I'm in Sweden. Or did I misunderstand your instructions?

If you are roaming outside of your home area then this could be a case of you not getting the caller ID information from the network you are roaming on.

Well, it all works fine if I put the SIM in my old phone so it's not that.
