Question dead keypad

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All
I have a Pearl, 8100, the trackball is working for moving around the screen, but I can not select anything, also the keypad does not work at all. It was fine three hours ago!
I have removed the battery, and found that the miniSD card was broken, I guess it had been inserted incorrectly, replaced the battery - same problem. Trackball moves the highlight through the options, but pressing it makes no difference, also no other keys working. Including the keys on the side of the device.

Any ideas - it will be going back to the shop tomorrow if it doesn't play soon!

This is my second device - the last one had a sticky trackball.

Thanks

Dave

Thumbs down Still dead keypad!

I have backed up and restored the BB, but still no keypad or any buttons working. I guess it must be a software problem, as the trackball still moves the cursor.
If it was just the keypad it could be a damaged connection. But the side buttons are not working.
Oh well another return to manufacturer and another replacement handset I guess!

Default Update on the dead keyboard

I took the BB into the vodafone shop and the assistant removed the battery and told me it was a water damage problem - the battery has an indicator alongside the three copper connections - it changes colour if it gets wet - indicating water damage!

Fine - except that, to my knowledge it has not got wet - even damp!

I dropped an old Nokia in the loo and after a couple of hours on the radiator it worked fine for another 12 months - so beware, a damp breeze could ruin your Pearl!
