Which wireless icon are you referring to?

No internet without a data plan. Sorry

The wireless icon turns the radio off and on. Useful when you are on an airplane.

jonni, do you refer to the Turn Wireless Off/On icon? "On" is the setting for your phone and data to work. "Off" if you wish to have no phone/data/internet/email, etc. It turns off the signal.
