Default How can I get Gmail to notify?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm using the Gmail app for mail and it works pretty good. I just need to go to the icon and choose it. However, there is no notification via sound of new mail arrival. I have it set to auto grab mail in the background but I have to manual check to see if new mail arrive. Anyone know how or if you can?

In your sound settings, go to advance and you can change it from there.

Default gmail

I have Google Mail and it works okay and you can change the sound that notifies you of a new message. Try this

menu key
profiles
scroll down to advanced
click on the profile which is active ( usually set at normal )
select messages ( your gmail address should be listed )

and then you can adjust how you to wish ( remember to save )

what if you use the actual "gmail for blackberry" app from Google Mobile Services?

You guys got it all wrong. He is talking about the actual Gmail app that you can install on your phone. Not a gmail account that is in his BES. I wish I could help but I am in Iraq and don't have data on my phone so I can't tell you how you can change that notification, or if you even can change it. Since it is an app, the only place it might be is in the options menu if its not listed under the profiles. If you can't find an app in the options menu than you probably can't change any notifications settings.

Concept, many third-party apps on the BlackBerry are listed in the Profile notifications menu to set their own unique notification. Example, JiveTalk is listed among the apps in my profiles I can set.

Thank you for your service to our nation.

Concept, you are right, I am talking about the gmail app. It does not list that specifically in the profile/advance/messages (only the pop 3 accounts). The gmail app is pretty sparse in its option menu and does not list a whole lot. Anyone else have any ideas?

I have searched for the same option...
I believe it is due to the newness of the Gmail app. It doesn't notify you when you receive new mail. Most likely it will be fixed/added in a future version.

Understood, that's why I said "IF" you can't find it in the profiles menu, the other other place to look would be in the options menu.

And no problem, I enjoy the army.

Default So does GMAIL set up via POP work

So does GMAIL set up via POP work? Can you get the notifications in addition to the BES notifications from GMAIL if you have it set up via a POP account vs. the Mobile app. If yes, then this would generally be a better gmail install than the mobile app.

I really like the mobile app as the font size and and the look and feel is much better than the same old POP account. Also, easy to separate "work" mail vs "personal" mail.
