lol, no I think megaman was able to do so as well, but I am on the same boat as you guys, I have the BB feature enable but no surfing, no tzones, however I can MMS, have not tried to IM yet, I guess it took those 48-72 hours that tmo was talking about to take effect... maybe they are reading this forum, if they are, hey Tmo! not everyone needs push email! can you enable Tzone on the BBs so we can surf like most phones out there without having to get the $19.99 plan? a $5.99 Tzone will increase your chances of people getting it on their plan rather than not having it at all!

Therefore, I think they are reading this since none of us can get the Tzones maybe I'll wait for the SE P1 to arrive, then I'll be able to use it

None of the carriers have advertised it yet, usually I get those (phones that are meant for sale in Europe, Asia) through Ebay or I'll check GSMArena for links of sellers. If you are buying from a company that you are not familiar with, don't forget to check their standings first on the BBB or in resellerraings.com before you send them your $$$

Ok so from my experience and all the comments I take it TMO got smart and stopped web browsing. When I called and spoke to a rep I was told even if she wanted to she cant add both(Tzone and BB-enabler).When she hits save on her computer she gets a error. So it appears its just not possible.
As for the others who don't have TZone and can still use oprea I can only guess you just recently canceled something and in time it will end as well.
I would start looking into dropping BB enabler and just getting the TZone but im gonna assume TMO thought of that as well and we would not be able to MMS and text on just TZone.I have a 1000 text/mms account now so they must be able to track it.
Looks like the parties over :(
I would be happy to get the data plan but I cant due to my credit.
So like I stated before: If I have to choose one it will be the text/pic messaging
I cant see myself browsing the web much on a 2 inch screen.

According to reddog187 in this thread: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-problems.html

There was a loop hole that allowed us to use Opera Mini for a short while, however, T-Mobile caught on and closed it.

I'm pretty sure T-Mobile will remove it once they figure out your not supposed to have both. If not, consider yourself to be lucky!

You just proved LittleJohn13 wrong... good thing that he didn't bet money on that.

Tmo was able to do it in the first few days that they introduced BB feature enable, after that, I guess they closed that loophole fast! I was able to surf with Opera the first few days but not anymore. :(

I was able to add the $5.99 Web Plan. Once I've added it, how long does it take for it to kick in?

I just got off the phone with D!*k Fart Dunn from T-Mobile, and he told me that the T-Mobile Web was never added, even though I could see it on my account. He then told me to log out and log back in, but I could still see it! He started to get real upset, when I told him to stop trying to remove it and pretend like it was never there! It took retardo like 20 minutes to remove it and he finally did. Oh well......

T-mobile web will not work from what they told me, its incompatible with the BB. Its been 2 days since I had dropped the data plan and got the BB enabler and yet I'm still able to use Jive Talk and browse on BB browser but not opera mini and not able to use BB messenger or yahoo messenger.

Default Just to Clarify - 05-28-2007, 07:55 PM

I know a lot of this is confusing, so let me clarify.

The BlackBerry feature enabler lets BlackBerry devices do what every other phone T-Mobile sells does for no extra charge, i.e. MMS, IM, and access t-zones. You do not need to have a text messaging feature on the account at all, if you're willing to pay 15 cents per message.

It does NOT give you access to the BlackBerry maps, Browser, or either push OR pull e-mail. Nor does it let you access the BB Messenger, since that does not go through text messaging servers but GPRS/EDGE data connections.

You cannot have both the T-MobileWeb for 5.99 + the BB Enabler, not because the reps are evil but because it is simply not possible. They're not capable of doing it because the systems don't allow it. Those of you that have the T-MobileWeb for 2.99 or 4.99 are still permitted to have both, because you have "grandfathered" features, which T-Mobile no longer offers. The reason is that each feature on the account has a specific code used for billing purposes, and the code for the T-MobileWeb for 5.99 and the BB feature enabler are not allowed on an account simultaneously. The code for grandfathered T-MobileWeb features has slipped through the cracks, so congratulations!

Also, T-MobileWeb is not designed to be used on a BlackBerry, and technically reps can remove it, but they won't. It really doesn't do a BB any good. It's designed to allow RAZRs and Samsungs and the like access to the limited form of the internet that they're capable of, namely wap-only sites like mobile.whatever.com.

You may be able to use the Browser or Maps or E-Mail for a limited time after adding the enabler until the network gets it all sorted out, and figures out what your phone is really allowed to do per the billing system. "Data Connection Refused" means that you have neither the BIS, BES, or Enabler on the account, so go add at least the free one you dork! Or, it means it isn't active yet, since that can take up to 48 hours.

Also, you may be charged for using the data features when you don't have a feature on the account. Most reps will tell you it can't happen, but I am telling you it can, and when it does it's ugly, since the unlimited feature isn't on there you'll likely be charged the international roaming rates for data access, i.e. $15/MB. I regularly use 10 MB a month, so that can be crazy. I will admit it is hugely unlikely that you'll be charged, but there is a tiny chance.

I hope this cleans up this thread a bit, since there is a significant and potentially dangerous amount of misinformation in it.

Oh yeah! A response to potential protests:

I know some users have been able to get full access to the internet etc. using the T-MobileWeb, but to be honest, you may have been able to get that same full access without paying anything at all. Randomly some customers have been able to get full internet access without paying anything, and slowly those glitches in the network are being fixed. Not to screw you, but to keep you from screwing T-Mobile.

Please don't call in to complain about it. There's nothing a rep can do to fix it. I remember when T-Mobile first closed the ports that were allowing internet access for free or for 5.99 T-MobileWeb pricing. T-Mobile closed all the ports at once, for BlackBerrys and all other PDAs (like the Dash, MDA, SDA, and Wing). My call center went from having 5 minutes of downtime between calls to 200 calls in queue with a one-hour hold time. T-Mobile immediately re-opened the ports to reduce the call volume, and ever since has slowly but surely been closing the ports one geographic region at a time.

And really, why would you call to complain that you've been getting a free or grossly discounted service for months and you want it back? Does that mean T-Mobile gets to charge you for lost revenue? Data takes a significant amount of bandwidth.

And the fastest speed possible for the EDGE network is 140kbps. 150 ain't happenin'. The reason is T-Mobile data allows two slots on a tower for downloading, each of which is capable of 60-70kbps max. Still not a bad speed, though. Suffices for my tethering needs.
