Default mms on tmobile and no need for blackberry plan anymore!! save $$$ - 05-17-2007, 10:17 AM

just got off the phone with tmobile and they now how a FREE plan as long as you have a text messaging plan that allows you to send mms. by doing so you no longer need to add the blackberry plan for 20 bux a month in order to send an mms..thought id share the good news and save you guys $20 for those that don't use the email functions of the phone.sorry if this is a repost.you would need to call cc to have ur old bb plan taken off and this new enabler turned on

the is called: BlackBerry Feature Enabler (Free)

This no cost feature allows customers with certain Blackberry devices who are not signed up for BlackBerry service to enjoy phone features such as Picture Messaging, Instant Messaging and t-zones.

cingular users are not alone as i think cingular has the same feature now!

I just called and a sales rep told me that the only thing it enables is mms. Instant Messenger will not work unless you have the bb unlimited for 20 bucks

if you enable it, and use $5.99 tmobileweb plan, you can use jivetalk and opera mini

just have to make sure the apn setting is set to wap.voicestream.com

the OZ messenger does indeed work with the freebie plan though. my friend has tested this already.

What does this BlackBerry Feature Enabler (Free) actually give us?
And if I want free instant message, I still have to order the 14.99 unlimited texting?

BlackBerry Feature Enabler
This no cost feature allows customers with certain Blackberry devices who are not signed up for BlackBerry service to enjoy phone features such as Picture Messaging, Instant Messaging and t-zones.

Yeah, I think unlimited text messaging is required for instant messaging. If I'm wrong, someone please let me know.

With the BlackBerry Feature Enabler, you can:

- Send Picture Messages without a BIS/BES plan
- Use the OZ Messenger Instant Messaging Client (Uses SMS, so be careful)
- Allow you to use T-Zones Portal (Access their WAP homepage)

With the current $5.99 TmobileWeb Plan in addition to the BlackBerry Feature Enabler

-Use Opera Mini to surf html websites.
-Use Opera Mini to check email via websites
-Use JiveTalk for your instant messaging needs (uses data, and $5.99 Tmobileweb plan is unlimited data)
-Browse ANY wap site using T-Zones Portal

Without the BlackBerry Feature Enabler plan
-CANNOT send picture messages
-CANNOT browse T-Zones
-CANNOT use OZ Client

so what about cingular? anyone know of a way to enable possibly email and/or internet without the blackberry plan? I can get unlimited texts now (for $20/month), but the cingular blackberry plans dont seem to include SMS, which I mostly use.

i'm looking to be able to use messenger, SMS, and email on my device (pearl).

Call Tmo back and tell them that you have 2 phones that you alternate using, they'll make an exception. They did for me , if they don't call back again and try a different rep... funny that you can get different results.

Ive been using the MMS for a while now but knew I could not get the t-zone for $5.99 because I own a Blackberry.
But the little trick worked perfect!they just added it.although i still cant acess anything. How long does it take for the service to be added?
I just removed my battery still no go.

This doesn't sound like much of a deal. $15 for txt and $6 for the web=$21 (no push email and you can only use certain web browsers/portals no Berry 411, Googlemaps, etc). I get data for $20 and 300 Txt for $5= $25. So I'd save $4? Underwhelming at best.

Well I have the 1000 text message(i love it) which is 9.99 and t-zone is 5.99
so for 16.99 i get the web and plenty of messages.
So should be ok for me.just called them back and was told it will take 24 hours for tzone to kick in.yuuuuck

It's worth it if you don't need push email. My friend also has the grandfather 2.99 tzones web package with the 9.99 unlimited messages so she got access to everything for like 13 bucks as noted in my screenshot earlier

You can access full email websites and html websites with opera mini. The main difference is the ability to get live push email to the device.

I think a lot of people don't understand that you do not have to use the oz messenger client to get Im and you can use JiveTalk with the 5.99 plan. Thus eliminating the need for the 14.99 unlimited text plan.

It'll save you like 15 dollars if you use opera mini to browse sites and jive talk for im

so something like m.facebook.com would look exactly the same on both plans, right? Also I would just have to view my gmail by going through the website instead of it automatically coming to my phone correct?

Is there a limit on how much you can IM?

no, there is no limit.

After downloading the installer .zip file to your desktop computer, extract the contained files to a location you'll remember, and use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Application Loader to install the program files onto your device.

Step-by-step instructions on a Windows PC
1. Start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager that came with your device and connect your BlackBerry device to your PC with the USB cable.
2. Click on the Application Loader icon.
3. Click on Add and browse to the location where you unzipped the JiveTalk program files, select the .alx file and click Open.
4. Select Next and then Finish to load the program files onto your device.
5. After the loading process completes, locate the JiveTalk icon on your BlackBerry and launch the application.

Ok, I called T-Mo yesterday afternoon and the guy put the Blackberry Feature Enabler on my plan - I have noticed no difference in my phone though, how do I send MMS now? I don't see it in any menus.

Well this is weird.... I just called T-Mobile.. told them to take out my blackberry 19.99 plan... and add the 5.99 T-Mobile... Asked them about the Free Blackberry Feature.. he said blah blah blah. So I called back, a girl got me this time. Add my Blackberry Feature Enabled added on. So I logged on my T-Mobile account to check if its on there. Its on there, but now I dont see my 5.99 T-Zone.. any ideas?

I had my BB Plan unlimited removed the night before last and I currently have no internet plan or at least nothing shows up when I log into my t-moblie account. However, I'm still able to use opera mini and I was wondering how is that possible??? Will I be charged for data usage with no plan?
