Yeah I think you can, go to address book>menu key>sim phone book>menu key again>copy all to address book. I don't know if the numbers saved on a sim card from a different phone will have a different format......

I believe that beyondalegend's instructions are correct - I actually just converted from a Motorola to an 8100 and the girl at the provider copied the SIM numbers (and names) to the Pearl for me.

I CAN confirm that they will work once transferred - and also that even after being copied over they will still exist on the SIM and you can still read and use them from the SIM (from Address Book click Menu and scroll to SIM Phone Book).

Correct. I just did this with a friend who bought my old Pearl. She had her numbers from her SIM (upgraded from a RAZR), and the copying process was uber-easy.

that is all correct, the only downside of the "address book" is if you add some one new, you have to make a COPY of the sim card or else it will only be in the address book this is done by highlighting the new contact then MENU> VIEW> then once in the view mode MENU> COPY TO SIM PHONE BOOK,
you have to do each contact individually
