Have you tired a hard reset? (Battery Pull). If not are you having issues with the trackball in other applications? If so you may want to carefully clean it.

Battery pull usually fixes this issue.

Why zoom, as the digital zoom is terrible. Can you just get closer to the object instead?

Do a search of the Forum, others have had this issue.

But as others and I have said since September 2006, the zoom feature on the Pearl is useless and will 110% ruin your pictures.

This is because, again as I have said before, the Pearl's zoom is digital, not optical. On all cameras and camcorders that have digital zoom, the pics are worthless. That is why they all have the option to turn digital zoom off, so one does not accidentally use it.

Digital zoom simply means that the camera magnifies the pixels. Put your nose about 6" from your computer monitor. See how crappy the view looks, digital zoom on the Pearl will do the same.

Forget that zoom feature. Wish I could get mine to never work again.

And just curious since you mentioned it, what kind of job do you have where using a cell phone camera would be an acceptable tool? Seems to me a dedicated digital camera would be more appropriate in any kind of work situation.

I'm with you SF, the zoom feature should be trashed, but for quick reference shots of an assembly that I'm trying to document in a 3D modeling software, the camera feature is very handy. nobody but me will see the pics and I can see how the machines actually look in the field so when it comes to making the manuals the instructions might resemble real life. and I don't have to carry my real camera with, I've always got the pearl on me.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

While I don't use my camera for work all the time I have used it on occasion. Nice to have if I need to snap a quick picture of something and then email it back to the folks in the office. Much easier than taking a pic with my real digital camera and then getting back to my computer, uploading it, and finally emailing it...
