you cannot get BBM to work with AIM (or any other chat service). You can try beejive :: JiveTalk mobile messaging or ramble (not sure what their link is I don't use it), or you can try to access AIM via their wap page.

IM Client that uses SMS

RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

IM Client that uses Data

http://www.beejive.com/jt_beta/deskt...erry-pearl.zip

After downloading the installer .zip file to your desktop computer, extract the contained files to a location you'll remember, and use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Application Loader to install the program files onto your device.

Step-by-step instructions on a Windows PC
1. Start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager that came with your device and connect your BlackBerry device to your PC with the USB cable.
2. Click on the Application Loader icon.
3. Click on Add and browse to the location where you unzipped the JiveTalk program files, select the .alx file and click Open.
4. Select Next and then Finish to load the program files onto your device.
5. After the loading process completes, locate the JiveTalk icon on your BlackBerry and launch the application.

I've tested out many of the different IM offerings for the Pearl and have found JiveTalk to be the best. I've had no issues with the connections staying and the alerting options are robust. Give it a shot.

I beleive OZ uses SMS. I use T-Mobile with a data plan and don't get unlimited SMS. So be careful with this app.

Also the OZ messenger service is problematic with frequent connection problems.
