Default Shield Zone screen protector. It's awesome!

Hi, I just wanted to share (I'm sure there has been a similar thread already) my experience with installing the shieldzone screen protector for my Pearl. I have bought other protectors from eBay before for my 7290 and 8700 (previously owned) but quality was somewhat disappointing. I was somewhat skeptical with shieldzone. The installation was really easy with all the kits needed. I have used this for 3 months now on my Pearl and this thing is AWESOME. No bubbles, very durable, and very transparent. I will get another one of these when the 8300 ever comes out for T Mobile.

Yep, I'm a big Shieldzone fan as well. It's lifetime guaranteed too!

Default Agreed!

I originally heard of the ShieldZone screen protectors when I was using the Sidekick, and because it had performed so well, I bought the same for my Pearl as soon as I got it.

The application process is a little tricky, but if done correctly, there's nothing better that protects the screen. This is especially helpful for me because I have ruined phone screens before because my earring scratches against it when I hold the phone to my ear (or between my ear and shoulder).

I've heard great things here on this forum about BSE, which is considerably cheaper, but when the 8300 finally drops for T-Mobile, I will stick with Shield Zone.

Considerably cheaper? The Shield Zone is less than $10. Or are you referring to the full phone protection?

Best Skins Ever and ShieldZone are the same product sold by different companies.

ShieldZone includes some protection for the chrome side pieces, BSE does not.

The full Best Skins Ever skin cost $7.

Best Skins Ever RIM BlackBerry 8100 Pearl Total Body Skin

The full ShieldZone cost $25.

BlackBerry 8100 Pearl Full Body Shield

If one buys three Best Skins Ever there is free shipping, so that works out to $7 each.

While the ShieldZone has a lifetime warranty, one has to pay $3 minimum shipping for a replacement, plus ship back the old skin [assuming it's best to send the old skin with some type of delivery confirmation, return shipping would be about $2]. So that's a minimum of $5 to get a replacement ShieldZone. That's about 80% of the cost of a BSE skin.

One of the main issues debated over time was the likelihood of making more than three warranty claims on the ShieldZone skin, as compared to paying $21 for three BSE skins.

I guess if one kept their Pearl for a few years and used more than 4 ShieldZone skins, then the lifetime warranty could be a benefit over getting the three BSE skins.

Of course if one goes with the ShieldZone skin, one has to hassle with making the claim, shipping off the old skin, going for a time without a skin until the new skin arrives and hope that the company does not dispute the return.

All of the above is nothing new, the benefits of going with either skin have been debated [sometimes heatedly] in many threads.

Some members swear by BSE, others like ShieldZone and their lifetime warranty, and do not mind paying $25 for one skin [which if installed incorrectly is NOT covered under the lifetime warranty. Screw it up, you have to pay another $25].

Get three BSE skins for $21 [which is $4 less than one ShieldZone skin] you at least have the spares in hand and can install a second one if you screw up the first install.

Either way, these skins are great. I have had my current BSE skin on the Pearl since October 2006. I have two spares I have not needed yet.

I use BSE and had it on since December, haven't needed a replacement, they work really work and are very cheap.
