Often, I will be at my pc for a good bit of a day, reading and deleting emails. Then I open my BB later and I have to either A) delete what I've previously read/deleted earlier on my pc, or do a Reconcile Now to do the same thing.

If you can delete on both devices by using the handheld, why can't it be so that you can delete on both devices by using the PC?

Am I missing the way to set this up or can it not be done?

If you are on a BES, it does not reconcile in realtime (every 5-20 minute, I am not 100% sure but there is a delay). So if you wait a while it will do it, or you can do a reconcile now.

If you're not on a BES, you cannot reconcile email except when connected to the pc (I am not even sure you can do it then as I have never tried).

Why the difference? When an email hits my pc inbox, it immediately hits my handlheld so it seems the technology allows that kind of immediate update. If I delete on handheld, it immediately deletes the message on the desktop. Why doesn't it work the same way in reverese. Why is deleting so unique?

It could be the way you outlook client is set to sync with the exchange server. I have a really bad delay on my desktop. RIM speaks to the delay in recon in their BES documentation though. I wouldn't worry about it, just know that it will happen eventually. I cannot think of any instance where it would be critical.

agreed that it is not critical, just annoying sifting through the clutter of the un-deleted emails unless I do a manual Reconcile Now.

It sucks. On mine I have to do a Reconcile Now, then Send/Receive on my Outlook client ... But I mostly don't notice unless I am in the office. I will usually just doe the Reconcile Now while my laptop boots up (sometimes I will go several days without even turning on my laptop).

also as an aside I believe that when deleting mail from your Outlook client you need to leave it in the deleted items folder otherwise the BES server doesn't realise it needs to delete the email (possibly due to the delays in the sync too)

Yeah....mine do go in my Deleted Items Folder. I archive my deleted items about once evry 2-3 weeks
