Default Turn off 'sent messages'

Please Login to Remove!

hi everyone!

I am brandnew to BB and more confused than I should be....

One of the major annoyances is this: I set up my gmail to show on my BB. However, every time I send a message to someone, it also shows as a new message...for example: I send an email, and the same second I receive a new email (which is the one I sent)

is there a way to turn that off so that only received messages are shown?

thanks for the help!

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3)

Yes, at the top of the General Discussion Forum, read the Sticky Note regarding the duplicate Gmail issue. Good luck.

yeah I didn't see it either
to resolve it, log into your BIS account and create a filter for gmail basically saying anything sent from your_name @gmail.com does not get forwarded to handheld

Im not sure how it works for cingular, but for t-mobile I sign on to my t-mobile account on my desktop. From there I can change the settings. Hope that helps.

Your BIS account is the login page accessed from the Cingular site that sets up the email accounts you have pushing to your phone.

As for the Gmail filter thread, I was with JSaunders, I thought it was still a sticky at the top of the 8100 forum. Its been removed in the last week, I guess. Probably because its addressed in the blackberryfaq.com section of the site. The sticky for that site is over in the General Discussion Forum.

It will walk you through setting up the filter for your Gmail account.

Filters are useful for a lot of things. I have one email account that I use to receive "new post" emails for different forums I belong to. Some of them I don't want to receive on my phone, because of the volume. I prefer having a filter that doesn't send them to my phone, rather than signing up for a "daily digest" option on the forum. Also useful for friends that like to send you stuff that you prefer not to read when you're at work.

I found it listed as "G-mail" not sure why, that's not the name of it. Oh well, here you go. HOW-TO: Prevent G-mail "Sent Items" from being sent to your handheld.

To answer the question about BIS. if you are on cingular, go to: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular
log in, go to your gmail account, and create a filter there. If you are on T-Mobile just log into your My T-Mobile account, scroll to the bottom where it offers you to go to the email (sorry not very familiar, I'm with Cingular)

edit: found the link
