Default Installing TomTom

I have a "not entirely legal" copy of TomTom software that run fine on my last phones (both Nokia's *spit*).

Is there a way to run .sis installer programs on the Pearl? or am I gonna have to purchase the "real" software?

I thought .sis was just a Java installation? am I wrong?

As far as I know, the TomTom software is for S60 (Nokia) phones, which use the .sis installer. It shouldn't work on the blackberry. for an alternative, try Google Maps Mobile (now with gps support, free) or do a search for gps software on the forums. There are plenty of threads. Personally, I have a TomTom 510 with my Pearl paired to it and it is awesome.

btw to download google maps, go to google.com/gmm on your blackberry.

My work blocks third party application downloads

Anyone know how to download without pointing the phone browser at it? ie download it by pc, copy over?

Would love to get gmail app and google maps

afaik the gps portion of the google maps doesn't work with a pearl.

UPDATE: The GPS works fine on my Pearl. I use a Co-pilot receiver and it appears to be fine, I do miss 3D view though........
