The trackball on my my Blackberry Pearl (T-Mobile service) won't scroll down or sideways - only up. Is this a fixable problem? It didn't get wet or anything else. It just stopped working properly. Any help would be most appreciated.

The usual remedies are canned air sprayed down the sides of the trackball, or at worst taking out the trackball assembly and cleaning it. Theres probably lint stuck down in there. If you do a search people have come up with various remedies over time, so you may want to look them over. If you carry your phone in your pants pocket, you will get this problem from time to time, I now use a case that covers the front....

Try just cleaning it w alcohol without removing the pearl.

Many have done this, and it worked fine.

Many times you can just push and roll it and you'll free it up. There is very little to go wrong in there.

This happened to me today and I cleaned mine with alcohol and a q-tip and its working fine now.

i had the same problem a couple of times, but it seemed to fix its self after some fiddling with the pearl. BUT then my phone freaked out and stopped scrolling sideways and down, the pearl click stopped working, and most of the upper buttons stopped working(menu, 1,2,3) AND my phone would randomly type "Wqeqeqeqeqeqeqeqeqeqe" over and over on its own. luckily i was still under the manufacturers warranty and they sent me a new one at no cost.

Had the same problem. Clean with a an IPA and use a lint free cloth if possible. (make sure its damped not soaked). If that doesn't work, Try a soft reset (if you have one) or do a hard reset.
