From time to time, specifically when being used as a modem for my laptop, my pearl will restart itself at random times taking a very long time to restart itself. Any idea or explanations as to why? |
That has happened to me to, when using the Pearl as a modem. I think it has something to do with the settings on the PC, not the Pearl.
Matter of fact, it just happened last week. Was connected with the Pearl as a modem, thing disconnected and the Pearl rebooted. I simply then reconnected and stayed connected for about six hours with no interruption.
Maybe it has something to do with signal loss? I did note that in the part of the house where I was using the Pearl as a modem that the signal was weak. I also had moved the phone slightly. When reconnecting I made a point of not moving the phone at all and then I stayed connected.
It also could have been the mini-USB port on the Pearl. That thing is "weak" meaning if you jiggle the cable, it might disconnect. When showing off the Pearl as a modem to someone, the thing disconnected. How embarrassing.
But I switched to a better connecting cable, the Pearl rebooted and then all was fine. But for a brief moment the person to whom I was showing off the Pearl As A Modem feature thought it was not that great.
In the morning I made a point of telling that person that I was online all night with that connection, so that saved the demo blunder.
So check the USB cable, don't move the phone, and see if there is anything on your PC that might be disconnecting the phone [virus auto updates, etc.]
Lastly, what OS you using? I have the original .42 from T-Mo. But I don't think it is OS related, never know though.
