| I haven't seen this particular problem, but I do know that I had problems if I didn't run the setup as Administrator.
Here's some Vista tips: - Use Desktop Manager 4.2 SP1. SP2 is available but includes Roxio Media Manager and is HUGE! If you feel you must have the latest and greatest, use a Custom install and do NOT install Media Manager. I haven't tried it under Vista, but looked at it under XP, and it's very invasive and overkill to just copy some files to an SD card! (yea, I know it does more than that)
- The package you download is a self extracting Zip file. Use a utility like WinZip to extract the package to a permanent directory. The reason is that you should be able to modify the installation at a later time, but if you just run the package you download, the files needed to modify the installation are extracted to your %TEMP% directory, and likely to be gone by the time you want to make a change. Extract the file to something like C:\Downloads\BBDesktop42SPx. If you do this, run BlackBerrySetup.exe to install.
- This is the most important tip for Vista! When you run the installer (either the file you download or BlackBerrySetup.exe), RIGHT CLICK on the file and select Run as Administrator.
