When I receive a call the screen tells you who is calling.

.... but when receiving SMS it doesn't and only shows the number, not the name.

I noticed that the SMS number used international format, ie ++44 7xxxxxxx so changed a couple of phone book entries to that format. (44 for UK, 7 for mobile) That meant the SMS log recognised the names, but the call log stopped, because the call log works on the national format 07xxxxxx (all UK mobiles start 07).

If I enter the number as both +447xxxx and 07xxxxx then the blackberry recognises the name in both SMS and call log.

Is there a way to get the Blackberry to recognise that a UK number is the same as a +44 number? What is going to happen when I go abroad next week? My old brick of a Nokia phone managed perfectly both in the UK and abroad. :(

press call (green icon)

then the option icon, (the one next to the green telepone icone)

goto smart dialing

country code set as +44

Thanks - working now ... puzzling why a carrier would sell a phone without that set as default for the home country.
