Default Pearl won't go right

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought a Pearl and after less than 2 weeks of use the pearl won't move the cursor right. It moves up, down, and left, but when rolling the ball right, nothing happens. It makes the "clicking" noise when scrolling in each direction except for right.

I called T-Mobile support and they told me that I need to be turning the phone off for 15 min to 1hr each day and to call me back after I do that.

after I got a little upset over that response, she checked her database and told me to go into Desktop Manager and delete messaging. -- I am a little nervous about doing this, as I can't see how this would be related to my issue with the pearl. Also, I am on BES so I don't want to hurt anything.

Any idea if this could be related? I searched support on this site and RIM's site and can't find any posting of a similar issue. This seems like a hardware issue to me...

If it is less than two weeks old, just walk back into your retail store and exchange it. Be persistent.

There is a seam (it's the parting line from the injection molding process) that circles around the ball. I've had the seam line up just right with the rollers on the inside and have the ball get stuck in one direction or another. If you just press down on the ball and roll it round in all directions you can get it unstuck. The parting line needs to stay askew (non-parallel) to the rollers on the inside.

Don't do anything that rep told you. Turn the phone off for 15 mins a day? Where did that come from?????? Mine is on 24/7.

You got lint/dust/dirt on the roller. Just blow on it real hard or use canned air. Pushing on the ball while rolling also fixes this issue. It's a fairly common issue with the trackballs but easy to fix.

Seriously?!? This is awesome. I'll have to try this with some of my users.....NOT.

I had this problem on and off for a few months, starting almost from when I bought it. I either couldn't roll the ball right or left. Finally, it just quit going left and no matter what I did, it wouldn't go left.

Finally I called up Tmobile and since it was within a year they sent me a new one and I sent them my broken one. The support was quite easy and wasn't much of a hassle.

Pressing down real hard and rolling it around at the same time should get rid of the problem.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Hey JC

Actually not a bad idea to turn phone off noce a week or so for ATT and TMO! They send updates to the phone continuously but like a windows computer needs to be restarted for update to take place
