DVD ripper?

I wanna rip only certain parts of my DVD to my pearl but the mplayer doesn't do that. I have a program that can cut video files but it doesn't take the avi files. Does anybody know of some good freeware that will rip a whole DVD into like a mpeg or wmv? That way I can then cut the file in my program and then use the mplayer to convert that split file into the pearl avi format. Thanks.

There's many programs that do this, but they all cost money. Not aware of any free stuff since the functions you expect are fairly complex and I can't think of anyone who is giving away such programs.

If you are looking for DVD rippers, I think there are freeware programs for that, but I paid for all mine, so I am not sure which ones are out there. Other members may chime in, as there are lots of "I use only freeware" members in here.

Don't mind paying at all if I can find them at local retailers. I hate online ordering. I got a little trial version of imToo dvd to wmv. Seems very good and does what I want. Are these kind of programs available Through regular retailers like best buy or fry's?

i tried using DVD shrink and ripped about a 4gig .iso file and then i put that iso file in the BlackBerry Video Converter from Seabyrd and it seems to be working and then always stops about halfway through. What am i doing wrong?? i tried playing that halfway done .avi file in my pearl but it says error, unsupported format?:?

not an all-in-one utility... but it is all FREE

The solution you are seeking exists in the following sticky:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ng-8100-a.html

There is a combination of free utilities that will accomplish your tasks.

The command line version of mencoder and the batch file that is described on Page 1 work flawlessly. There is a .vob file merge utility on Page 2.

Hope it helps.

well, i did a search and came across clone DVD mobile. Works very well and i think i will end up purchasing it. Believe me, i dont mind paying for good software at all. I do some home recording/band demos on the side and have spent hundreds of dollars on software 8-)

Clone DVD Mobile and Clone DVD work very well, it's what I use. If you are going to buy the package, make sure you also get the AnyDVD unlock. Slysoft has a bundle price for all three.

Are they pretty legit company? You didn't get some "unknown credit card charges" after you purchased it did you?

I have been with them since 2002. They are super legit. The company has grown quite large over that time.

And my upgrades have been free since 2002, as they promised.

Also look at their Forum, it's pretty good on answering issues and on using the programs.

They are also well known now as THE company that has the best DVD unlocking program.

They are so on top of things that their AnyDVD unlocking program updates almost weekly.

If you get their bundle make sure to set the programs to do an automatic check for updates.

I like that all their programs alert me that there is an update and to click the link to go to the site and download it. You especially need it for AnyDVD because that updates quite often.

Their AnyDVD has unlocked every one of the 300 DVD movies I have. That's a pretty good record, especially with the Sony movies which are tricky to unlock.

For ripping the DVD's I use either DVDFab or DVDShrink. Both are free. Once the DVD is ripped I then use a program I had for my PSP to convert it over to MP4. You can use the free BB converter app to make it useable on the Pearl. For ripping from DVD though I like DVDFab. It is simple and works great with all of the disks (including Sony) and updates itself whenever it is needed.

I have dvdShrink. Works very well. It has unlocked all my dvd I tried so far. Clone dvd was not able to do it on its own but I do like the ease of it. I will check out dvdFab. Oh another good one that unlocks pretty much any dvd is Smart Ripper. Free too
