GSM devices and battery life.
I was told by someone that GSM devices boast long battery life as compared to their CDMA counterparts. I have recently switched from a 8703e on Sprint to a Pearl on AT&T, I don't know how the batteries in the 2 devices stack up capacity wise, but I could get nearly 2 whole days out of the 8703e but with the pearl at the end of the day I am down to 30% life left. I have 2 OEM batteries and they both behave the same way. I am versed on how to condition a Li-cell, so I know I charge and discharge them properly. I have all the same programs/apps on the pearl as I did on the 8703e with the exception of Colorpearl, but I recently uninstalled that as an experiment, and it had no significant impact on battery life. Any suggestions on what to try, I hate the thought of a fat hi-cap battery, as I think it would hurt the slim lines and pocketability of the pearl....My wife has never been so happy to see me NOT packing a holster on my hip.
JDP, to have 30% battery on a Pearl at the end of the day is common, not bad at all, for moderate to minimum use.
Have you searched the boards here for this issue, as there has been lots of discussion on it in the past year. Likewise, the 8703 and 8100 are different batteries will render usage differently, so they will be hard to compare, in my opinion.
What do you have running in the background on the 8100 (click alt-escape)?
I've turned off my 8100 after fully charging it, and afte 2 days its battery was almost empty. Does this make sense?
was it OFF or on standby?
Either way, that is poor battery use. You might want to read the FAQ to help you "Maximize Battery Life".
