Default latest OS for Pearl in the UK

Please Login to Remove!

Hi There, I wonder if someone could please help clarify something for me.

A client of mine (I run a small IT consultancy) has just got a Peal and it is a great piece of kit, I must say.

He has had an issue whereby no emails were being deliveried to the phone - all I did was turn the phone off and on and the emails came through. He said he never turns the phone off, so I suggested that he maybe does that every day or so, just in case!!

Anyway this got me to thinking that there may be an OS update to fix this and probably other issues, so I got surfing the web to find an update. The current version of OS on the phone is 4.2.051 (platform 2.2.0.32).

At this point I asked my client what network provider he was with and he said, that the phone was brought through BT in the UK but was using the Vodafone network, so he was told!!

I thought this was a bit strange as the BIS service is provided by 02, but when you browse the web on the phone, it is using Vodafone. So, I suppose, my first question would be is the phone using 02 for the BIS and vodafone for the web browsing!! The BIS access is definately 02 and to prove this, I went onto the UK Vodafone BIS site and tried to register the phone PIN/IMEI and it said "error" and exited!!

So, getting back to my original query, I was wondering wether to download the OS upgrade from 02 (showing version 4.2.0_rel79_pl2.2.0.39_a4.2.0.67) or from the vodafone site, or does it not really matter.

Thank and apologies for the stupid questions.

Andrew
