You need to do a search of the Forum. This has been talked about many, many times.

Search under "lag" and you will find the threads discussing it.

Rumor has it that the newer operating systems fix it.

Also, do not answer the calls by pressing the green key. Instead, scroll to "answer" and press the trackball. That has also been reported as a workaround.

Now do a search and read up on this.

Well, the threads are there. I said to enter "lag" because that is the word I used when discussing it.

Try "answer delay trackball" and see what comes up.

Here is what I found when entering the above search terms:

Also, it was discussed that using mp3's for ringtones was causing the delay. Have you tried switching to a preloaded ringtone and seeing if the problem is still there?

Same here. Preloaded ringtone and I get the delay. I just wait until the screen says connected then I start talking. It takes like 2 seconds for the screen to say connected and I think that's the dreaded delay. I got used to it now and don't see it as a problem.

i'm running 4.2.0.64 and get it also, preloaded ringtone. must be the OS. i did notice a few times when i answered no delays, must have been when i used the trackball. other times i used the green key and got the delay...

despite the bugs 4.2.0.64 has, i really never had a hickup using it. no failures/issues problems with installed apps, never. but then again i don't run everything that's available. this delay problem doesn't bother me that much either...

overall very happy with my bb and it's OS. problem is every1 else has beat tmo to the punch and now i'm wanting a new OS too....ppl r saying that tim italy and rogers are faster than older OS's....it would be nice for us low-on-the-food-chain tmo subscribers....

I think the best OS to date was the 4.2.0.71 from Cingular. I have the 4.2.1.94 now and it's much better than the 4.2.1.66 but still the .71 was the most stable OS....even better than the .64 from TMo. If you are sticking with 4.2.0 OS's that's the one I recommend.

I agree, ever since going to 4.2.0.71 (months ago) I have never experienced the call lag again and PRIOR to going to 4.2.0.71 I experienced the call lag ever time I answered the phone. My wife is still running 4.2.0.67, just because i've been lazy and haven't upgraded for her yet, and I can confirm that the call lag has never been a problem on this OS either.

So from my experience

4.2.0.64 = always had the call lag issue
4.2.0.67 = never had the call lag issue
4.2.0.71 = never had the call lage issue

I am with T-Mobile and have been running 4.2.0.71 (like I said) for many months and have no issues whatsoever. So, kevin714, your best be until T-Mobile releases an update beyond 4.2.0.64, you should go grab 4.2.0.71 and you'll be very, very happy with it.

If you are wondering "can I install a Cingular OS on my T-Mobile phone?" the answer is Yes, you can install ANY blackberry 8100 (pearl) OS from any carrier onto any blackberry 8100 (pearl) phone.

You should be able to download 4.2.0.71 from this link (be sure to download desktop manager as well as the latest handheld operating system)

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4

Else, start at this thread and find your way there, taking note that this thread will help you learn how to install updates to your phone - which in general is a very safe and very well known process.

Latest Operating System Available For Each Blackberry Device

Best of luck to you - you'll love your pearl once you get this fixed.. I wanted to throw mine into the toilet when I first got it, simply because of the call lag issue.

will this OS speed up device functionality over 4.2.0.64 ? i am starting to shrivel up here Tmo is taking forever with this update to our OS.

you say 4.2.0.71 is stable, how stable ? with or without apps already loaded on 4.2.0.64 prior to an OS upgrade ?

are ppl that use WinXP jumping on dm SP2 or is that release intended for WinVista folks ?

thanks for the insight and links....
