Hello all!!! i am a newbie and i bought the bb pearl 8100 2 days ago and i need help this phone, it is making me mad .
heres my problem
either i am stupid or it hates me,
i bought a microSD 1.0g yesterday and they put it in and everything and i do not
know how to put music on :( it says when i plug it in "do you want to turn on Mass Storage Mode? You might not be able to acess some media files in this mode" and it says yes and no. what to i click???
What program do you use to add the songs on??? the desktop manager that came with the program? b/c when i try to put songs on that it says file is to large.
Another thing i have tried is just drop music into the f drive but that didnt work i could not find the music on my bb >:o i am sooooooooooo frustrated!
another way i tried to do it is take the chip out and put it in the adapter that i got with it and my computer will not read the device
this is giving me headaches trying to figure this thing out. can somebody tell me what to do!!!! before i break down
thanks sooooo much.
please sombody help me!!!!!!!
put it in your phone, go to options, advanced options, media card, then click the "blackberry" (the option) button to the left of the pearl and choose format....then you should be able to see it on the computer and put your songs in the music folder....good luck
Do the above and when you plug it in when it asks if you want to turn on mass storage, say yes. Then simply drag and drop mp3's into the music folder on the card (something like "Removable drive F:/ or similar) in "My Computer."
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.................. it was no good :( i am so frustrated i cant take it anymore!!!!!!!!!
i even got my sisters boyfriend to do it (he used to work at a phone company) but he put 2 songs on with the mobile device but it would not let him put anything else on.. then i tried to do it after him it would not let me and it took off those 2 songs!!!!
thanks for the website... but i still cant get my stupid music to work maybe its my computer idk
i have tried the second option before and it just says everytime i try to put music on it says file is to large... i have no idea what to do
the first option did not make sense to me
"1. Make sure desktop manager is not open
2. Plug the device into the PC using the usb cord
3. A pop up box will open, select Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer
4. Minimize this window (click the - in the upper right hand corner)
5. Open another instance of Windows Explorer
a) Start Menu >> Windows Explorer
6. Navigate to the folder where the file(s) you want to transfer are located
7. Right mouse click on the file(s) and select Copy
8. Open the minimized window (from step 4 above)
9. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the file
go to the media center section of the forum...there is a sticky there on file types that the Pearl can read for music and video....and if I remember correctly there is a size limit on songs transferred via Mass Storage Mode method....I honestly prefer the Media Manager method for moving media files on and off the Blackberry.
I've never had an issue with file size and mass storage mode. I've transferred full length movies that way. The only file size limitation I remember is 2.86mb for transferring media to the device memory in media manager. The SD card shouldn't have any file size limitations (other than the capacity of the card itself.)

If you can't get them transferred using mass storage mode in windows then turn off mass storage mode on the device. Plug the BB in and run Desktop Manager and try transferring songs using the media manager to the card. The card will show up in Desktop Manager if mass storage mode is off.
i tried that it didnt work it said "an error occurred transferring 'myblackberry/c:\documents and settings\administrator\my documentmy music\drive-incubus.mp3' to the blackberry device. The size of the file exceeds the maximum file limit of the blackberry device memory
