How add members to groups?

I'm trying to add members into the groups I've created in the Address book. The problem is when I added the members to the group, I want the members to move into this group and not remain on the main page. The members does appear in the group but it also appears on the main page. If I delete the members on the main page then the that member also got deleted in the group folder too. How do I avoid this? I want to move members into its appropriate groups.

So, if you create a group, GROUP, and you add John Somebody to GROUP, John Somebody is still in your contact list, and you don't want that? Such is the way it has always been AFAIK, and no option to do what you want. Personally, I would still want John Somebody to show up as a contact.

Nice explanation. Personally I would want to see the individual contact as well.

Cheers!

Are you maybe asking about address book Filters or "Categories?" A group is like a mailing list.

Many thanks for the response. Here's what I want. I don't know what it's call, GROUP or Categories, but I want a way to organize all my contacts. I want to organize all the contacts in groups by their alphabetical order. Say group A, B, C, D, E, and so on. So if the person I'm looking for has a last name that start with L, I can just go directlyto the group L instead of scrolling through all the contacts to find it. I think that is a lot faster and neater.

Blackberry already has this funtion.

From the address book, simply start typing the name and it will narrow down the names for you automatically.

Thanks! I'll give that a try.

Also, a group is a distribution list. You create a group, add contacts to the group, then send a message to everyone in the group just by addressing the meassage to the group. Category is tagging a contact as business or personal, or projectan or whatever you want. Then say, you could filter you contacts (or tasks or calendar) on a project, or look only at personal items, or whatever.
