Roaming Possible in U.S.?

I have a locked T-Mobile Pearl in Atlanta. I am pretty much in the center of Cingular/AT&T central but am not able to access their network. I like T-Mobile because they are cheap and fairly reliable, but there are times where I have no service and an AT&T customer right next to me has service.

When I had a Motorola V505 i was able to switch between T-Mobile and Cingular automatically and would always have service. Now if my phone has no service it constantly says "Searching"

When I go into the Network Area under Settings I see that Cingular is the selected network, but I don't get any signal. I had no problem with this before. Is this because my phone is not Unlocked? I wouldn't think that would be a problem.

Please help.

Thanks,
Chris

I have that same problem withmy TMo BlackBerry as well in the Birmingham area. If the TMo signal goes dead, the BlackBerry will not grab the present Cingular signal.
I have inquired numerous times with TMo about this and have been told over and over again that is because Cingular will not give TMo roaming agreements in our areas.
I am pretty certain you will find that to be the case in your situation as well.
