I'm doing research to get my first BB, 8100, 8800, 8300, not sure yet. But before I can get one, I need to know for sure how the most important thing to me will work, and that's to access my company's email (reason why I want to get a BB).

Some info on my company...
We don't have BES
They don't allow POP or any protocol outside of our LAN (security reason).
We DO have access to Webmail, i.e. from a browser on the PC, go to https://webmail.company.com

I've searched all the forums but still not sure of the answer. I've seen some posts regarding setting up OWA but that also requires my IT dept to allow BB device access. I doubt they'll do that given how strict they are.

I think the only option I have (I think, please advice) is using webmail thru the browser. Of course not preferrable, but I can live with it.

So finally, my question is is the standard BB browser or any other common browser like opera mini allow me to access my company's webmail? For sure it requires javascript, https, not sure if the MS Outlook web client requires Ajax? I tried it at the store, the page does come up but at the top it says that the browser does not have javascript enabled. Is the only problem with that was the browser didn't have javascript turned on? Anyone uses Outlook Web Client on the browser with no problem? I just don't want to get the phone and find out I can't do it. And I don't know anyone with a BB to try it out.

Good question. I access my aol webmail with my pearl and have no problems. My company too has webmail and I will check if that works through the BB browser or opera.

I just accessed my company webmail. My company uses outlook as our email service. I was able to log in using the BB default browser but it really couldn't display it right. I logged in using opera mini and I was able to read my emails using opera. Hope that helps.

Outlook's webmail application is just fine with Opera Mini. It's a surprisingly nice, compact interface. I think you have to do manual refresh, however (click send/receive), to check for new mails.

FYI, you will have to have a data plan in addition to your calling plan from your carrier to use the browser or email functionality.

Now I feel better looking for an 8100 or 8300 knowing I can just install the opera mini to access outlook.
