I just bought a 8100 off eBay and I am trying to figure out if there's something wrong with the phone or I just don't know enough about the Pearl.

Is it normal for the phone to change profile when I take it out of the holster?

Let's say I put the phone in `normal' profile and put it in the holster. When I pull it out of the holster, the phone automatically switches `vibrate' profile. I don't know if I have a problem with the holster/phone or it is part of the design. Is there a way to disable this problem/function?

There is no auto-change profile function. One of two things is likely happening: the BlackBerry is not actually changing its true profile, it is just set to vibrate out of holster. Have you seen it actually move to vibrate profile?


OR, more likely, you are inadvertantly pressing the top button which does switch between the active profile and vibrate profile.
