I bought the Shield Zone full body kit for my pearl and I am amazed by how good this thing is. I have to tell people that there is a screen protector on it. But at the same time I am dissapointed with the screen part of the kit. I am having such a hard time installing the screen.

First time, I installed the screen, looked good after the install - no air bubbles nothing... waited a day and then when I put in my battery and the screen came on I see these lines on the screen.

So I asked them to send me another one (since there is a lifetime replacement warranty) and last night I installed it... looked fine at first but as soon as I put my battery in and the screen came on... I see a lot of spots on the screen... looks like moisture under the screen protector.

Has anyone else experienced this problem. I am going to call in and tell them to send me my third set. (hey its free... why not!)

YOU ARE NOT INSTALLING THE SKIN CORRECTLY.

Do a search, this has been discussed many, many times. You need to see my thread on how to install a skin, although it was a Best Skins Ever skin [BSE]. They are the same product.

And be warned, we discussed this many times in other threads, ShieldZone does NOT warrant incorrect installation. Sounds like they are giving you replacements as a courtesy. Third time may NOT be a charm, so to speak.

I buy three sets of BSE skins for $21, shipped, but that is my preference rather than penciling out if the ShieldZone skin lifetime warranty really works out over time [there are limitations and with shipping charges may not work out in the long run. But like I said, that subject was hotly debated].

Now as to install, the spots are dust and debris. You are NOT installing it in a dust free environment. See my tip on the steamy bathroom [actually, it's BSE's tip]. While the skin may look fine when wet, any dust or debris will not show up until the skin dries. You need to look at the skin in an angle to see any dust.

You have to be super careful and my steps, while appearing anal, are necessary to assure a clean install.

I have bought this for several items 2 Moto Razrs, 1 Ipod and my Pearl. It's a great item. The spots should disappear within a few days. They also will not honor their warranty when it is installed improperly. Take your time and do it right.

I'm a new pearl owner and had on all my previous phones used Martin Fields protectors. Unfortunately, the stiffer plastic used on the Martin Fields doesn't work well on the Pearl. The corners kept lifting up on me because of the slight curve to the phone face. Anyway, I went with a BSE. To ensure I had no dust on my screen after a good cleaning (with eye-glass cleaner) I used scotch tape. I put in over the entire screen face, made sure it was pressed down good, and then peeled it off. I then followed the instructions for installing with BSE (with the water and soap and what not). It worked perfectly. I was quite impressed actually. My only complaint is the slight "sticky" feeling the BSE plastic has to it. The Martin Fields felt just like the actual screen... but since I don't actually touch my screen (generally speaking), I the slight stickyness that the BSE has doesn't bother me.

I'm not sure, but I think the reason the skin is "sticky" is so that there is some give to it when the display is struck by, for example, keys or coins.

If it was hard plastic then the supposed protective skin would scratch just as the plastic display would, that is, the Pearl's plastic covering protecting the LCD screen. The soft surface of the BSE skin appears to absorb most shocks or strikes without incident/damage to the skin surface.

ahhh. makes sense. like i said, it's not a big deal and i'm EXTREAMLY happy with the BSE. it worked perfectly, and i would highly recommend them to anyone.

Martin Fields is a great company... unfortunately their covers just don't seem to work well with the Pearl.
