Arrow How to get MMS/SMS/PIN messages in a separate folder?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm hoping to find a way to view a list of just SMS/MMS/PIN messages - without e-mail. At the moment I'm using v4.2.0.71 (platform 2.2.0.41).

I view e-mail in each of their own message folders - why can't I have a folder for all the other messages (without the e-mail)?

TIA!

If you upgrade to 4.2.1 (see the sticky at the top of the 8100 forum) you can have a separate folder for SMS/MMS (pins still go in the "Messages" folder.)

Crud - I was hoping you wouldn't say that...I am askeered of upgrading due to all the apps I currently have and couldn't find a comprehensive list of changes/fixes.

Thanks - and do you know of such a list?

A list of changes/fixes for 8100 OSs? There is a whole thread about all that:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-2-1-96-a.html
While it is not a comprehensive listing, it is about all you will get.

Aside from the bug in the phone app for dialing letters the 4.2.1.96 OS is quite stable and a good OS.

HA - love The Office - funny quote.

I got through about the first two and last page of that thread but I guess I need to go through all of it...I was kinda hoping to find an actual LIST of changes for each release, ya know?

OK, so let me see if I can get this straight...companies that rake in large amounts of money create software updates and do not list the changes...whereas open source initiatives using collectives of volunteers (like phpbb) extensively document every little change made in an update? I know, I know - in the second scenario, the developers are also the users.

Most of these are very small incremental updates. I have seen the list on one of the RIM websites--just not all compiled in one place. Likewise, there are about 8-10 (or more) versions of OS 4.2 (some for the 8100, some for the 8700, some for... get the idea?).

Just that, as far as I know, I have never seen a comparative comprehensive list of all those versions, in one list.

Maybe not to the public... but I'm sure their own developers manage a changelog internally.

I bolded the important part above.
Open source software allows for many developers (who aren't necessarilly affiliated with eachother) to work on a single project.
A public changelog makes sense in this case, since there often isn't much "internal" tracking involved with open source projects.

Is there an option for that in the messages options? I haven't found any way to do that.

Get Empowered will have a message folder structure changing program, with automatic organization of incoming messages.

Never mind... found it...

Go into Messages, then Menu -> Options -> General Options. Change SMS and Email Inboxes to 'Seperate'
