I am having a trouble trying to figure out how to load certain programs/software on the Blackberry. It keeps telling me, The blackberry Desktop software does not have blackberry device software for the device that you have connected to the computer... Any Suggestions??

I am having that same problem too. :(
I've tried different versions of the desktop manager software, including what came on the CD with my phone.

The message I get is:

"The Blackberry Desktop software does not have Blackberry Device software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator"

The only selectable thing on the screen is the 'add' button and if I click it and browse to a .alx file it will not add it. Anyone know what is going on here?

Thanks

In addition to the Desktop Manager you need the Handheld OS installed to the computer. Check under Options >Status and then download that version from your service provider.

Yeah........... I figured it out, it took me about 5 hours to mess around with it. First, i downloaded the new updated OS version which was for the AT&T phone from the blackberry website. Then i got it to to run some programs by using the Application Loader Wizard; however, if you do this, you will loose your blackberry maps.

I was wondering for days on how to find it, eventually i figured it out that if you download the AT&T software for the blackberry, it takes out the maps so you can use a different "type of maps which you have to pay for" (THEY MAKE MONEY OFF THAT DUHH)

I unistalled the Device Manager, and i downloaded from the blackberry website, VERSION 4.1, purposively so i can load COLOR PEARL, and get my MAPS back.

Hope i answered my questions and other peoples if they are wondering the same thing too

You can easily get BBMaps back in 4.2. It just requires a simple edit of the LBS.alx file. There are pre-edited .alx's posted in this thread. Simply download the appropriate one and replace your old one with the edited one and run application loader again and go all the way through until it says finished. It will appear as if nothing is happening but your BBMaps will show on the device when you are done.
