Default Unknown Notification Icon...

This morning a smilie face showed up with a * on it, and a 1 next to it like a new email, but its a smilie instead and my notification LED is blinking red. Unfortunately I can't find any new messages or anything, so I have no idea what this icon is for. Anyone have any idea?
