| complete system crash help!!! Please Login to Remove! 2 days ago I opened my memo app and my pearl rebooted. It continued to do so continuously. In the few minutes in between reboots, whenever I would click my scroll ball, it would type the letters 'w' and 'e', followed by a reboot. I downloaded the pearl system loader yesterday to completely restore my system, but whenever it gets to the second step for device initialization, my computer says "unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation." I'm not sure if I got some kind of virus or what, but I need some help!!! | | Offline

| thanks for the reply. I tried everything you said, but I still am having the same problem. Once the app loader gets to 'waiting for device initialization' is gives me the message 'unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation. The phone has a slow repeating red led blink. The only other info I could find dealt with the power management of the usb port, but I went into device manager and fixed all of those and still have the same problem. Is there anything else I can try, I am so stumpt | | Offline

| hello thanks again for the reply. Yes I've done everything step by step over 10 different times and I'm still having the exact same problem. Once the application loader loads the software and attempts to initialize the phone, the phone goes into a perpetual reboot every 5 - 10 seconds. The phone reconnects and disconnects from my computer, over and over, as I can see in my system tray in the bottom right.
Is there anything else I can try???? Thanks so much for your time! | | Offline

| sounds like what my phone is going through.. i posted something simular to your problem yesterday except my phone is blinking, it's showing a symbol with 507 under it, before that it was showing a battery symbol with a red slash through it. i am in the same boat that you currently reside in.... i'll keep up with this thread just in case someone figures something new out. | | Offline

| Wirelessly posted (BB 8860: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)
507 simply means there is no OS on the device. Install Desktop Manager to your PC. Install the OS to your PC. Delete vendor.xml and then plug in the BB, open Desktop Manager and run Application Loader. It will detect the pin and reload the OS back to the device. | | Offline

| i've tried everything listed so far, but to no avail. what else can i try?? my phone will not wipe with the 3rd party software, so i tried the other step you suggested with app loader, it erases everything, loads the software, but once it tries to initialize the phone, it just continues to reboot every 5 seconds giving me the "unable to connect during a multi- stage operation" on my computer. so frustrating!! is there another program I can try to wipe the handheld?? | | Offline

| Fire it out the window?
JJ. It sounds like the OS is not making it onto your device. Uninstall Desktop Manager and the OS from your PC, re-install the latest versions, and start again. Double check that the OS you have is for your device and is actually supported.
Did you try the JL_commander app for a wipe? (See John Clark's sig)

| Still under warranty by chance? You could call customer service.

| Same battery issue Good evening,
I am also experiencing the same issue with the battery symbol that has a red slash over it. I was able to use the javaloader executable to wipe my 8700g once, and was able to reinstall the OS. After my Blackberry worked for about a day, it died again with the same battery error. I went ahead and bought a new BlackBerry branded battery and still had the same issue. As I am writing this the OS is reinstalling again and I am hoping that it will get all the way through this time.
The majority of the time that my BlackBerry responds to the Application loader, it is after I have waited for the OS to be erased, and then switched USB ports. I don't really know why this would matter, but it has helped out twice now.
If anyone has any other suggestions, or questions about the battery error, please let me know.
I am doubting if this OS load will last more than a day, but I am fairly certain my BB is out of warranty; so I do not have many other options.

| Dylan, you would be better off starting a new thread with your issue. Usually a red slash thru your battery icon means charging or almost completely discharged. If your BB is shutting down, I presume the battery is totally discharged.
