Unhappy BB+Sony DR-BT10CX Bluetooth stereo earphones,,,problem.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I very recently purchased Sony DR-BT10CX stereo earphones which are are advertised to be compatible with the Pearl.
They allow voice commands, standad phone usage but I cannot get them to receive music.
Has anyone had any similar issues or can give me a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Which software (app) version are you using? This might help those in the know.

Even the latest version of the Pearl software from AT&T, 4.2.1.96, does not support A2DP which is required for BT stereo. There are some apps, Dollars5 MediaPlayer, that will send audio over bluetooth the headset/handsfree profiles but I have only tried this with a basic BT headset because I have not invested in BT stereo until A2DP is supported on my pearl.

A2DP is included in 4.2.2.x releases of BB software that is currently only available for the 8830 (worldphone) and 8300 (curve). According to many rumors 4.2.2.x or based on the boygenius reports 4.3.x will be coming to the Pearl but it is not clear when that will be if ever.

I know I was hoping for TMO to release an update today to combat interest in the iPhone from those that bought the Pearl for personal use as a smartphone (PIM, media, pictures, etc) because of the improved Media application and A2DP support but I guess no luck today based on my search. For me, I use my Pearl on BES and iPhone will never replace what I do with my pearl and my iPod with video will remain in a desk drawer unless I want to watch feature films while travelling.

If any of the cell companies are reading, release 4.2.2.x or 4.3.x quickly to avoid losing customers to iPhone simply for the Media application.

Well,,,,you have told me a lot that I did not know when I purchased the earphones, they are advertised by Sony as compatible with the BB8100 so the will be getting some questions.

I appreciate the info,,,,still have my wired phones.

Thanks again.

The headphones are compatible as far as using them for phone functions, just not for music.

Question

I thought A2DP had to be supported via the bluetooth hardware, not just software?
