Default My trackball doesn't work on ENTER

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I think I damanged my trackball. Couple days ago it seemed like I got dirt in the trackball as it wouldnt go to the right anymore. It just was stuck. Then I used a dustblower and computer moist cloth and kept cleaning it and it finally worked again back to normal.

Then yesterday I was in the bathroom shaving and my phone beeped so I just pressed the trackball to see the message (I guess I had water on my finger) and ever since then the trackball doesnt work.

I can move it in any direction, however, when I press on it (e.g. ENTER), I get no response. Only way to press enter is to press the actual enter key which is the very last key on the bottom right of the Pearl. I used the dustblower and moist cloth many times now but no change

So now I scroll around and when I get to where I want, I have to move my finger all the way to the enter key.

How can I fix this? Anyone know how much Tmobile will charge to fix?

Both of you might want to experiment in some disassembly to clean (or dry) the area around the trackball. It is not hard, but takes patience and the proper tool.

Havent tried reassembly, kinda scared but guess I have no choice.

Yes I pulled the battery, changed themes, did lots of things.

Sometimes, if I press the trackball really really hard, then it will work

Oh, darn :(
Guess you're only chance is to try taking it apart and cleaning under the trackball.
If that doesn't work, you could just buy a new trackball, though they are a little expensive. BBrepairshop.com - BlackBerry Repair Parts for BlackBerry 8100 Pearl

mine works only sometimes. It all happened because it got into contact with water and now it's really sensitive to heat and the ball will stop working because of that. The only way the trackball will seem to work is if I wait a few days and it will work all of a sudden. I don't know anything about the inside of the pearl but I tried cleaning it and it does nothing
