Default Problem downloading Desktop software 4.2 with Vista

Please Login to Remove!

Everytime I try to download the 4.2 desktop software onto my Vista it always stops at about 16megs of the 252mb file. Anybody else with this problem.
I originally loaded the desktop software that came with it...4.0 I think and then sync'd my Pearl and wala....no more browser and help files corrupt.

HELP the NEWB

thanks

I'd say it has nothing to do with Vista....XP> More where you are getting the file from. Try another source.

How long do you wait when it gets stuck? I have vista and had no problems. But if you are having problems try turning off Windows Defender while you Download. Just an option, no promises it would work.

My boss was kinda having the same problem with vista to where it was saying file was fully installed. When I hooked his phone up everything worked just fine! Don't know what to tell you.

I have Vista and i have NO PROBLEMS whats so ever, is there another application you are running while using the desktop manager? It may cause it to freeze or stop responding.

Just keep trying to download it. RIM's website is notorious for these issues. I would suggest trying it later at night.

As for loading it, there's a known issue with Vista and the installer that takes a while for it to get to the initial setup wizard (you'll see the BlackBerry logo at the bottom right and it loading the installer then it disappears for about 3-7 minutes then continues).
