Default Is it necessary to click "close" everytime i want to quit an app?

Please Login to Remove!

i notice that when i hit the escape button, or the end call button to get myself out of an application the app seems to continue to run in the background. for example: if i go into media - music - media card, and put the cursor on a song and then press either the escape or end call button, the next time i open up the media app it goes back to the screen where i had selected the song. So my question is, is there an easier way to "quit" an application? is it necessary for me to press the menu button, and then select close each time i want to quit an app? thanks for any help!

Generally, hitting the back (escape) key closes the app. However, hitting the red phone key leaves the app running. You can check what apps are running by hitting the menu key from the home screen and select "switch application." Certain apps can't be closed...Phone, BBMessenger, Browser, Home, and Mail.

I will never use the BB Messenger, can I delete it from my 8100? Or will the world implode?

No you can delete the program if you do not use it.

Don't delete it, you may use it someday and it's very cool to use with another BB owner. There's no reason to delete it, your phone will work no better with it deleted.

I use the IM program that's installed on my BB (the AOL one). I've actually used it only several times within the past 3 weeks (since I got the phone). I'll keep the BB one for a while even though I don't know anyone else with a BB to IM with.

Thanks,
Tom
