Default Pearl Voice Dialing issue, ideas?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all. I'm new here, but I've done a search and read all I could find about voice dialing. I've tried the switching languages thing to reindex my contacts, done the adapt digits process, adjusted sensitivity, and beat my head against the wall. Nothing seems to work.

Voice dialing will not recognize names or numbers at all. It typically comes back with a few options on names, always single names (although my contacts are first name and last name). It does this when I clearly speak a number as well. If I just say "call", it comes back after about 5 seconds with "say a name or number". After I do, it takes about 10 seconds to come up with the bogus list.

Here's my idea of what is going on. I have about 5500 contacts (imported from a Lotus Notes database). I'm thinking the voice dial is just overwhelmed by the numbers and isn't going to work. does anyone else have this many contacts and have voice dialing work?

I guess my next step is to delete all of the contacts and reindex to see if it will recognize numbers.

Any other suggestions? I've read such good things about voice dialing, I'd like to be able to use it.

Default Voice Dialing Problems

smiller85

I have heard of this same problem with Motorola phones (which also use VoiceSignal software) and large contact lists. I don't know if there are any resolutions to this, but you might check the Motorola forums to see if there are any additional details there. Good luck...

Default Zeroing in on problem....

Thanks for the reply. Contact list size does seem to be the issue. I cleared the contact list and digit dialing worked great. Put in one contact (easy name John Smith) and it worked as well.

Unfortunately, when I put back the 5500 contacts (takes a while), the same issue has returned. I'll check out other forums to see if I can find a solution, but I'm doubtful.

Too bad, as that would be a nice feature. Unfortunately, I can't add voice tags to just a few contacts that I use all the time. I also can't seem to stop my bluetooth headset from initiating voice dialing when it connects. Maybe voice dialing can be removed, I'll have to look into that.

Did you try to "adapt digits?"

Yes, per my original post, that was two steps before banging my head against the wall.

Unfortunately, no answers seem to be found, I'm pretty sure it is the number of contacts giving me the issue.

I also can't find any way to disable voice dialing, a couple of other threads ask the same question with no answer. Whenever I pair my bluetooth headset, it automatically invokes VD. It would be nice if there was a "cancel" command. I can say "check status" and it gives me info and then goes out of voice dialing, otherwise it waits for a command.

Anyone found a way to disable voice dialing?
