I went down the street to Staples and got a SanDisk 4GB microSDHC card for $47 bucks, and it came with a microSD to Sd adapter AND a MicoMate USB 2.0 SD/SDHC reader. It works awesome on my pearl. I load all my Diggnation video podcasts on it and watch em at the gym.

Yep, and your 8130 will support 8GB and above, too.

I am not sure where to ask this question, so I will ask here. Is there a way to plug in a thumb/flash drive to the USB port so you could store movie there. Seems like an easier way to do all this.

I've been using a R Data 4GB Micro SD in my Pearl 8130 for over a month. No problems at all. Have lots of pictures on it.

My A-Data 8gb SDHC works perfectly. My question is, when the 12gb SDHC arrives, will the 8130 support it?

Did you get a chance to try this?
I have a 8130 on Sprint. I'm wondering if I should trade in my 4gb sdhc for something w/ larger capacity.
Thanks.

I currently have a Verizon 8130 Pearl and I have been using a Sandisk 8GB MicroSDHC chip and it works fine.

As usual I formatted it before I put it in and have used it with MM on the desktop software and transfers my music and ringtones and pics without a hitch.

I don't know about TMO since I only use ... the best network out there (no I don't work for them) I have tried TMO ... Bellsouth now AT&T ... and they can't touch the best network out there. (IMHO)

Hope this helps!!!

Are all your mp3s 32 kbps or something? Mine are all pretty good quality and I don't have nearly 1000 and only have 115 megs on my 4 gig card

4 GB Kingston with about 20 music albums, a couple of movies, lots of pics and some ringtones.

Works great.

Yes it does. The challenge from the other member is over a year old and it is well known now that the more recent OS versions support the high capacity. At the time of that post, no.

Default 8GByte MicroSDHC and Pearl 8100 - 09-06-2008, 10:54 PM

OK folks, this is for real. I had upgraded my Pearl 8100 about a month ago to the RIM 4.5.0.55 OS, and pretty much had no bugs that I could see, except for a few 3rd party programs that I used, which I figured I could live without, in order to acquire the AD2P features the newer OS provided.

This is a first generation Pearl 8100, T-Mobile is the carrier, (not that this should matter).

My media card was maxed at 2GB MicroSDHC, and I was reading some information found at Crackberry with regards to the high end limit on memory size of the media cards. It said that 8GB was the limit for the 4.5 OS, soooo, my curiosity overwhelmed me, and I found an outfit through Amazon that was selling the SanDisk 8GB MicroSDHC cards for about 24 bucks.

Yes, as far as I can tell, everything is fine and dandy, the Pearl was able to format the card, (almost a full 8GB, about 7.5GB, but that is 1024 times whatever, so do the math), and as I type, I am transferring some files that I saved to my desktop back into the phone.

So, no problem I have proven this on my own, and no, I will not take photos etc. of it, you will have to spring for your own on this one, just passing the word on that it is working as I speak.

Thanks but this is pretty well known now. This is a very old thread. In fact, OS 4.5 supports up to 16Gb cards. No proof necessary. RIM has posted a KB about it.

16GB on Pearl? You mean I wasted my money on an 8GB when I could have gotten a 16GB?

Heh heh heh........, happy with this (for now).............

Sorry about posting this now about the 8. I didnt realize that the discussion had been going for some time now.

I will examine more closely the next time around.......

Oh, one more thing.

I think what the RIM statement was with regard to the 8GB limit was pertinent only to the Pearl 8100 running 4.5 OS. That was what I was referring to, not any other phone.

Appreciate the forums.............

Or you could just learn to shop online and pick up an 8Gig microsd card for about $50 shipped (and yes its a real sandisk from amazon)

The Pearl supports 16Gb with OS 4.5. 16GB's aren't out yet, though, nor are 12Gb's.

Smile 4GB MicroSDHC in Pearl 8120 - 09-07-2008, 01:15 PM

My husband has a 8120 Pearl (TMO) and it has software 4.3.x and works with a 4GB MicroSDHC just fine (only recognizes 3.7GB though- is this common?)

Yes, that's normal. Some of the card space is used for formatting and system files.

I am currently using a Micro SD/Transflash 4gb card I got from Itrimming.com. I have a 8110 and it works fine. The card doesn't say SDHC but works great. $27.68 with adapters.

Since it's well known that 4Gb cards (and higher) work fine with BlackBerrys now I am closing this thread.
