Whenever I save an appointment in the calendar, my Pearl says "Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullpointerException." The event records but the alarm for it never happens. And following this problem developing, I am now unable to synch with my computer. An error message of "Unable to write or update application data" comes up when I try to accept changes in tasks, my address book, or calendar. Any clues or advice? Do I just need to backup and restore the Blackberry, and how exactly should I do that?

Does this continue to happening even when you pull the battery out, let it sit for about 10 seconds, then put it back in?
