Default New issue with using Pearl as modem

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

Has anyone had this issue with using the Pearl as a modem w/the USB? It'll initially connect to the Internet flawlessly - keep Desktop Manager open, use the dial-in, etc. However, a few minutes later, the Internet will just stop working - the Internet connection icon still shows in my taskbar, but all of my Internet functions stop working - instant messenger, internet browsing, etc. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen? It'll let me disconnect and reconnect easily, but it's ridiculously annoying to have to do that every 5-10 minutes.

maybe it's the problem with service in that particular area. have you tried to connect elsewhere?

i haven't used the modem a lot, but i've never had that problem.

I haven't tried connecting elsewhere just yet, I guess I'll try somewhere else and see what happens. But it's a trip....I just found it weird that it'll work at first, but then stop a few minutes later, without me moving my Blackberry or anything.

Plus, my Blackberry has decent reception, like three bars. I can use the Opera browser on the phone well, so that makes me think it's not a reception problem...

Grrrr! Turns out it's the same deal if I'm in a different location. I went to a library where I got a full five bars of reception on my Blackberry, all caps EDGE, and it still doesn't work. Anymore ideas?

This has been thoroughly documented. All you have to do is search the forum. Also, it's not necessary to capitalize every single word. This just annoys people.

Thanks For Your Useless Reply.

It's Personal Preference Pal ! If I Want To Type In Capitals I Will! Keep Your Opinion To Yourself In Future. It's People Like You That Annoys People.

My previous post can't be completely useless since it did point you to the search function.

Your "personal preference" needlessly makes your post harder to read and many people wouldn't even bother replying to it.

What if my personal preference was to type in all caps or random caps with bold+underline? This is a forum, not a myspace page.

I have only used my BB as a browser on a few trips and usually when sitting in an airport. I have not had the problem (yet) that you describe.
