I realise that there are newer releases out there, but I haven't seen any reference to O2 UK updating their Pearl OS...

So, here it is: BlackBerry from O2 - Help and support

I have been using it for about a week now and haven't noticed any problems.

still the old one on O2 website.
The latest one:
Latest 8100 OS: 4.2.1.164/4.2.1.101
