I already searched but I just got my pearl and downloaded opera mini and its not working it says failed to connect. So I searched the forum and found the APN it still isn't working. I have a Tmobile data plan so what can I do????

im guessing you do not have blackberry data? some people have reported working without blackberry data but i haven't been successful either. Call tmo and ask them to enable blackberry addon (not sure of teh exact name) but i know its free.

you mean the BB enabler? Doesn't that just give mms txtmessages?

I have the bb data plan for Tmobile, and I downloaded the Opera; however, it says the same message: failed to connect. Not sure what the problem is.

What version of OM are you running, James? 3 or 4 beta? Do you actually have a data plan?

On T-Mobile under settings->TCP you should have
APN: wap.voicestream.com

username and password blank.

If this doesn't work, go into Opera Tools-> Settings -> Network Test
That should return something telling. Post about it here.

Do a hard boot (pull the battery out for 30 seconds) to fix the Java error.

What does the OM network test say? This is important.

Anyway, you could always uninstall OM and re-install. The menu nav is a bit different on an 8100, but uninstalling is something like this:

1. Settings -> Options -> Applications
2. Scroll down to select Opera Mini
3. Click/Menu -> Delete

I think I'm going to give up it's not going to work I think I did about ever thing possible to get it to work.

2. I have a data plan
3. I did multiple battery pulls
4. I've call Tmobile
5. I have my browser emulating Internet explorer
6.I've uninstalled and re installed
7. when I press menu it says Uncaught exception:java.lang.NullPointerException

So after that is their anything else I can do?
Since I got a data plan do I still need Blackberry enabler?
Should I active my new sim card would that make any differents?

Your sim card isn't activated!? That could explain things.

Another cause could be your browser emulation. Some OTA downloads are specific to your browser. Can you set it to no emulation so it looks like the BB browser to the download site?

Anyway you should uninstall and reinstall.

Did you purchase your devices new? If you bought them used, possibly you have an IT policy blocking you.

i am having the EXACT same problem. the beta worked awesome and then one day it just stopped. i just got a new pearl cause i dropped my old one in the water while i was drunk and only the menu button stopped, but it was still annoying. any who yeah it doesn't work on my new phone either.

My friend had the same error when trying to SMS. He was using his old VoiceStream SIM card. Upgraded the SIM to the latest SIM and it all worked fine.

Ya same here error message n all. On day it worked fine , I had version 3 beta then for no reason it stopped working. Didn't worry about it cause I was going to update the OS to 101 did that forgot bout opera for a few days then tried it an still no go. Uninstalled it just today installed beta 4 and the same thing all over again. Heh I dunno used ta work without a hitch.

Just a couple things I can suggest to help..

Settings -> Network -> Data Services: "ON"

Settings -> Security -> Application Permissions -> Opera Mini -> Menu key -> Edit Permissions:
Connections -> ALLOW
Interactions -> ALLOW
User Data -> ALLOW

Or.. Settings - Advanced - Service Book:
Delete any books pertaining to web/wap and have T-Mobile resend your service books.

And always powercycle after modifying major settings to ensure they are enabled.
