I just ordered my wife a Pearl from Amazon. Of course I have DM installed to run/update/synch with mine. What do I have to do in order to use 2 pearls with the same DM but use them seperately? By that I mean I want to be able to install stuff like Berry411, Opera Mini on hers selectively so it doesn't have to be the same as mine. I use Outlook to synch contacts/calendar stuff, so my second question is how do I make her stuff separate from mine but have hers synch with hers and mine with mine. I know this has come up before but I ignored it 'cause I only had one Pearl until now. Thankyou thankyou.

You need to create a separate profile with Outlook... or even in Windows, create a different sign-on for your wife (a different username).

Sure. And if I put DM in her username will it just treat her Pearl like the only one in the deal too? I guess that's the simplest way to do it.

yes thats the best way if you want to able to sync it. if your only going to use it to put on apps and software updates, you can just leave the setup as it is.

Even if you're going to just load apps, you have to be careful. I set up my DM to prompt me for the email profile to be used. That way I can just hit cancel when it prompts for a profile and it connects with no email profile.

Explain that to me again, John. I made my wife a new username in XP, and DM/Outlook are there. Outlook is blank and ready to go. But I don't know about DM because I haven't gotten her pearl yet. When I connect hers will DM be blank or will it carry over the stuff from my pearl? If it does how do I set preferences for her unit different from mine so I can synch hers different from mine? Or should I delete DM from her XP and load the cd in again like I did when I got mine?

When you connect her Pearl to the computer, and to Desktop Manager, UNDER her WinXP signon and to her Outlook Profile, your information will not be carried over.

If she has never used Outlook on her profile, it should be blank, until information is entered in to Outlook or her BB.

Gotcha on Outlook, thanks. But what about the apps on the pearl? I have a bunch of stuff like Opera Mini, games, etc. When I connect her pearl in her WinXP sign right out of the box what happens with the apps?

Nothing happens with those apps. Those apps won't be on her Pearl, of course, and if you want to load games or Opera Mini to her Pearl, you will just need to do so--using Application Loader or downloading them OTA.
